RPO Pricing in Latin America: Models, Costs and Contract Terms

GENTY recruitment··11 min read

RPO pricing for Latin America follows the same four models as US recruitment process outsourcing: a fee per hire, a monthly management fee, a hybrid of the two, or a charge per activity. The difference is the level. Published US benchmarks run from roughly $3,000 to well over $10,000 per hire, while offshore delivery from Latin America is reported at about $1,000 to $3,500 per hire for volume roles. The model you choose and the scope you outsource move the final figure more than the country does.

This guide is written for CTOs, VPs of Engineering and founders at US and European tech companies who are weighing an RPO partner for LATAM hiring. It explains what each model charges for, which benchmarks are worth using, what pushes cost up or down, and which contract terms to settle before you sign.

TL;DR

  • RPO is priced as cost per hire, a monthly management fee, a hybrid, or per transaction. Per-hire suits project hiring; a management fee suits steady pipelines.
  • Reported US figures are $3,000 to $10,000 per hire, or $8,000 to $15,000 per embedded recruiter per month. One offshore benchmark for LATAM volume recruitment is $1,000 to $3,500 per hire.
  • Compare only like-for-like numbers: job boards, assessment tools and your own recruiters’ time can change the real cost per hire.
  • Check minimum volume commitments, setup fees, replacement guarantees and what happens when hiring slows before you sign.
  • LATAM adds a practical benefit to the price: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico share working hours with US Eastern and Pacific time, so interviews and onboarding fit a normal day.

What an RPO rate actually covers

An RPO rate is the fee a provider charges to run some or all of your hiring funnel. The RPO Association describes the main structures: a management fee, which is a recurring monthly or hourly charge covering staff, technology, sourcing, account management and overhead and does not move with placements, and a performance model, which can charge an open fee per requisition and a close fee per filled position.

What the rate buys depends on scope. A typical engagement can include:

  • Intake and role scoping with the hiring manager
  • Sourcing and outreach
  • Screening and technical or skills assessment
  • Interview scheduling and shortlist delivery
  • Offer management and negotiation support
  • Reporting on funnel metrics

For Latin American hiring, you should add three items that a US-only quote rarely includes: English-proficiency screening, compensation benchmarking against the local market in each country, and a view of how the candidate will be employed (contractor, local employer of record or your own entity). Ask whether each is in the rate or priced separately.

RPO versus BPO

RPO is the recruitment-focused part of outsourcing: it runs some or all of the hiring funnel. BPO is the broader category covering outsourced operations such as customer support, data processing or accounting. If a Latin American vendor quotes you a BPO seat price, that is a team member doing operations work, not a recruiting function, and it should not be compared with an RPO fee.

The four RPO pricing models

The per-hire and management-fee ranges come from a 2026 RPO pricing review, which also notes that high-volume programmatic hiring can bring per-hire pricing to about $1,500 to $4,000, and that broader retainer arrangements can run from $5,000 to over $80,000 per month depending on scope. Treat these as market signals for onshore US hiring, not quotes.

Cost per hire

You pay when a candidate is placed. The risk of a slow search sits with the provider, which is why this model is the easiest to approve internally: the cost is tied to an outcome. The trade-off is that per-hire fees usually rise with seniority and scarcity, so a staff-level backend engineer costs more to place than a mid-level QA analyst.

Management fee

You pay for capacity, whether or not hires close that month. The model rewards you when your volume is high, because every extra hire dilutes the fixed cost. Below that volume the fixed fee and setup work can erase the savings. One 2026 guide puts the break-even against contingency agencies at roughly 15 to 25 roles per year.

Hybrid and transaction based

Hybrid pricing pairs a smaller monthly fee, which funds a dedicated team, with a reduced per-hire fee. It suits a company that hires six engineers this quarter and an unknown number next. Transaction-based pricing charges for named activities, for example screening 40 candidates or running 15 first-round interviews, and fits teams that keep sourcing in-house and outsource only the filtering.

What RPO costs when you hire in Latin America

One benchmark for offshore delivery from Latin America is $1,000 to $3,500 per hire for volume recruitment, assuming end-to-end sourcing, screening, interview scheduling and offer management for standard roles, with the client keeping final interviews and onboarding. The same source cites $3,000 to well over $10,000 per hire for onshore US professional and specialist roles.

Per-hire RPO cost ranges in LATAM and US

Read those numbers with care. The offshore figure describes standard, high-volume roles with part of the process left to you. A senior DevOps engineer in Brazil or a staff-level data engineer in Argentina is a specialist search, and it will not price like a call-center hire. Expect the per-hire fee to move toward the top of the range as the role gets rarer.

Where GENTY recruitment sits

GENTY recruitment publishes its prices instead of leaving them to a sales call. Recruitment, IT recruitment and sales recruitment start from $2,999 one-off per hire, with a fixed fee per seniority level, no upfront payments and a 3-month replacement guarantee. Staffing starts from $99 per month per employee. RPO, executive search and salary benchmarking are quoted per project, so there is no published price for them. We say “from” because the final fee depends on seniority; the per-hire starting point is the number to compare against US per-hire benchmarks.

Our client-side claim is that hiring in LATAM can save companies up to 40% compared with US or European hiring. That is a comparison of total hiring cost, and your own saving depends on role, country and seniority.

Where GENTY recruitment sits

What moves the price

Five variables explain most of the gap between two RPO quotes for the same Latin American search.

  1. Pricing model. The same recruiting work looks very different on a budget depending on whether you buy capacity (a retainer) or outcomes (per-hire fees). Compare both over a 12-month hiring plan, not a single month.
  2. Seniority and scarcity. A senior engineer in Mexico City or São Paulo with Kubernetes and fintech compliance experience takes more sourcing hours than a mid-level front-end developer. Fixed-fee-by-seniority schedules make this visible; blended rates hide it.
  3. Volume. Ten hires a year and fifty hires a year are different products. Volume discounts and programmatic pricing only appear above a threshold.
  4. Scope. Does the provider stop at a shortlist, or carry the process through offer management? Does it handle compensation benchmarking per country? Each activity you keep in-house reduces the fee and adds to your internal workload.
  5. Countries covered. A search limited to one country is narrower than one open to Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Chile. A wider talent pool can shorten the search, which matters in a per-hire model only if the provider passes that efficiency on.

Counting the full cost per hire

Benchmarks can differ simply because they count different things. Job boards, assessment tools and the time of your internal recruiters and hiring managers all change the effective cost per hire, so fully loaded comparisons only work when every quote is defined the same way. One 2026 guide suggests budgeting 20 to 30% of a senior talent acquisition person’s time for RPO oversight. If your quote excludes that internal time, add it before comparing.

A simple worksheet helps:

Contract terms to settle before you sign

The headline rate is rarely the part that surprises employers. These terms are.

  • Minimum volume commitments. Some management-fee contracts require you to commit to a share of forecast volume. One 2026 guide says commitments of 70% to 80% are common and should be negotiated. Ask what happens if you hire half the forecast.
  • Setup and implementation fees. The same guide lists implementation costs in the range of $15,000 to $40,000 equivalent for larger programs, which weighs heavily in year one. Ask for the line item.
  • Ramp-down terms. If hiring pauses, can you reduce the team or pause the retainer, and with how much notice?
  • Guarantee period. Find out how long a replacement guarantee runs, what triggers it, and whether the replacement is free. GENTY recruitment offers a 3-month replacement guarantee.
  • Upfront payments. Per-hire models should not require money before a candidate is placed. Our model carries no upfront payments.
  • Employment of the hire. In LATAM, hiring through a local employer of record or a staffing arrangement is separate from the recruitment fee. Confirm whether the monthly staffing cost sits inside the RPO price. For reference, our staffing starts from $99 per month per employee.
  • Data and process ownership. Candidate pipelines, assessments and interview notes should stay available to you after the contract ends.

Why LATAM changes the economics beyond the fee

The recruiting fee is only the first line of the cost. Most US teams hiring in Latin America also want the working day to match. Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico overlap substantially with US Eastern and Pacific time, which means a daily stand-up, code review and incident response fit inside shared hours. A Colombian engineer on Eastern-aligned hours is available when your CTO is, and that shortens feedback loops in a way a distant-timezone team cannot match.

That overlap also affects the RPO process itself: your hiring manager can interview candidates during US business hours, and offers can be negotiated in a single day rather than across a time-zone gap. How to choose the right model for your hiring plan

If you are early in the decision, our explanation of the RPO recruitment process shows each stage you can outsource, and the guide to offshore recruitment process outsourcing covers how the setup works across borders.

Our perspective

We see most RPO conversations go wrong in the first ten minutes, when a founder asks for a rate and gets a percentage of salary or a blended retainer that nobody can compare. Our view is that a recruiting price should be a number you can write in a budget before you speak to a salesperson.
That is why GENTY recruitment works with a fixed fee per seniority level, no upfront payments and a 3-month replacement guarantee. We focus only on Latin America, with dedicated recruiters per vertical, so a DevOps search is run by someone who recruits DevOps engineers in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico every week, not by a generalist with a job ad.
Our process is skill-first: we aim to deliver a curated, triple-vetted shortlist within 7 days, so your engineering leads spend time interviewing, not filtering. For teams hiring at higher volume, our RPO service gives you an embedded recruiting function built around the same LATAM market knowledge and the same timezone advantage, with Eastern and Pacific overlap built into how we plan interviews and onboarding.
If you are hiring a handful of engineers, start with fixed-fee recruitment. If you are building a team, talk to us about RPO scope. Either way, ask for the price in writing first.

FAQ

What is an RPO rate?

An RPO rate is the fee an RPO provider charges to run part or all of your recruiting. It can be a fixed fee per hire, a recurring monthly management fee, a hybrid of both, or a charge per activity. Always ask which model the quoted rate belongs to, because the same number means different things in each.

How much does RPO cost for hiring in Latin America?

One offshore benchmark is $1,000 to $3,500 per hire for volume recruitment from Latin America, against $3,000 to well over $10,000 for onshore US specialist roles. Specialist engineering searches sit higher than volume roles. GENTY recruitment’s fixed-fee recruitment starts from $2,999 per hire, and RPO is quoted to scope.

What is the difference between RPO and BPO?

RPO outsources some or all of the hiring funnel. BPO is the wider category that covers outsourced business operations such as customer support, data processing or accounting. For a hiring plan, you want an RPO quote, and you should not compare it with a BPO seat price.

Is RPO worth it for a small team?

It depends on volume. Management-fee RPO tends to pay off at sustained volume, with one guide putting the break-even at about 15 to 25 roles a year. Below that, a fixed fee per hire by seniority usually gives a clearer budget, which is how our recruitment service is priced.
